What happens if the transplanted cornea is rejected by my body?

Corneal transplant rejection is uncommon. When it occurs, intensive local treatment is administered with eye drops, which tends to be effective in most cases in reversing rejection. If rejection continues and the cornea irreversibly loses its transparency, despite administering such treatment, a new transplant can be performed.
